September Cocktail of the Month: The Staci

The Staci_Bourbon_Cocktail

As the weather begins to feel a bit more like fall, we realize it’s time to transition our go-to cocktails from vodka and gin-based to the darker side of liquor with bourbon, whiskey or scotch. In related news, September just so happens to be National Bourbon Month! Coincidence? We think not ;)

While we have TONS of bourbon-inspired cocktails on our Mix Generator, we decided to feature one specific drink this month, The Staci. Here are a few reasons why we think this one is particularly fabulous for September:

1. This drink has the perfect combination of ingredients to take your mind from the poolside to the fireside: a whisper of summer from the muddled mint and freshly squeezed lemon juice, and a kiss of fall flavor from your favorite bourbon and Rainier Cherry DRY Sparkling.

2. You only need four ingredients, but it tastes far more complex. Make this one for your friends and they’ll swear you’re a legit mixologist.

3. The short list of ingredients means it’s quick to mix up. Because of the busy new schedules September brings (hello start of the school year!), we know you’ll be seeking something fast, easy and delicious to help you wind down at the end of a long day.

4. The recipe for “The Staci” was created by our great friend of the same name. She pulls from years of experience as a bartender and has helped us out during many DRY team happy hours!

5. The Staci is famous!!! Well, kind of. It has been featured on MarieClaire.com and Forbes.com. So if you don’t take our word for it that this cocktail is great, take theirs!

Alright, enough raving. Let’s get to mixing!

Ingredients
4 oz. Rainier Cherry DRY Sparkling
1.5 oz. bourbon
¼ small lemon
A handful of fresh mint

Directions:
Muddle mint and lemon in a cocktail shaker, add bourbon and give it a good shake. Pour the mixture into a decorative glass with ice, top with Rainier Cherry DRY and garnish with fresh mint sprigs.

Not a bourbon fan? We strongly recommend giving The Staci a try anyway; the addition of mint and lemon and the Rainier Cherry DRY balances out the bold flavors of bourbon. However, if you are really, truly, 100% anti-bourbon, try “The Staci” with vodka instead.

We can’t wait to hear what you think! After you mix this one up, tag your photos with #DRYSparkling and #TheStaci and share! We’ll ask our Staci to take a look at the photos and if she’s impressed, she just may have something special for you.

Cheers!
